This July 4th as thousands of Americans stand shoulder to shoulder in protest over our out of control government, I  hope our congress can remember the men who risked so much in 1776.

Judges, lawyers, merchants, land-owners, farmers, doctors, ministers, and politicians.

They were risking more than just land, money, or political careers — the penalty for treason was death.

These 56 men with the threat of death hanging over their heads for them and their families could STAND for freedom. They listened to the people and signed their names to a document that declared our independence.  Now our congress with no threat at all ignores our calls, signs, and protest.
