Blaming the Republicans!

Wanted to share an interesting finding by the Office of the Republican Whip.

This was taken from a transcript of “Obama Prime-Time News Conference”.

QUESTION: If you don’t get this, isn’t this a fight inside the Democratic Party and that Republicans really aren’t playing a — you can’t really blame the Republicans for this one?

OBAMA: Well, first of all, you haven’t seen me out there blaming the Republicans. I’ve been a little frustrated by some of the misinformation that’s been coming out of the Republicans, but that has to do with, as you pointed out, politics.

and then 18 hours later in Shaker Heights, Ohio.

You know, we had one Republican strategist who told his party that even though they may want to compromise, it’s better politics to “go for the kill.” Another Republican senator said that defeating health reform is about “breaking” me — when it’s really the American people who are being broken by rising health care costs and declining coverage. (Applause.) You know, the Republican — the Republican Party chair, seeking to stall our efforts, recently went so far as to say that health insurance reform was happening “too soon.”

Now, I have to tell you, I have to say, that folks have a lot of nerve who helped get us into this fiscal hole and then start going around trying to talk about fiscal responsibility. (Applause.) I’m always a little surprised that people don’t have a little more shame — (laughter) — about having created a mess and then try to point fingers, but that’s another topic. (Laughter.) Because the truth is, is that I am now President and I am — (applause) — and I am responsible, and together we have to restore a sense of responsibility in Washington.

hmm…. well that’s interesting!

I guess he is “out there blaming the Republicans”

Can we PLEASE start seeing through the BS, America??

Check out the video I made of the above quotes

Sanford, Wrong? Yes! Resign? Nah!

I normally don’t agree with Meghan McCain. Actually, I don’t think I have ever agreed with her. At least until today, when she made this statement

But what goes on in Governor Sanford’s personal life, I believe, just isn’t relevant to his role as a public official. The problem I see, like most problems I have with politics, goes back to the same thing—the hypocrisy of it all. One thing making everyone so mad, myself included, are the clips being played of Governor Sanford publicly blasting former President Clinton for his affair with Monica Lewinsky. It looks horribly hypocritical. And it is. We have to stop requiring that our politicians live at such a high level of moral superiority, as if they are infallible creatures. Let me assure you, they are not. Because when these same politicians fall from grace—especially in the South—we demand that they leave office immediately. (Unlike, say, Eliot Spitzer, Governor Sanford didn’t do anything illegal. If he were to be convicted of misusing state funds for traveling to Argentina, then, of course, it is a different matter entirely and he should step down. )

Is it wrong? Yes!! But really, does it have anything to do with politics? Does it have anything to do with him running his state? Unless of course he used state funds for traveling to Argentina. Otherwise, I don’t think we need to know and I don’t thinks its grounds for removal. Its not like he killed anybody or had $90,000 in his freezer?? Now those would be reasons to resign.

Also, my decision is not based on party lines, I didn’t care about Clinton’s under the desk adventures either… I only cared about the perjury part!

Awesome Senator Award: Lamar Alexander

Posted by Kristen Hawley | Posted in Government | Posted on 11-06-2009

Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) gets the Awesome Senator Award for the month of June.

For two great reasons…

ONE: He has introduced legislation that would require the treasury to distribute stock in GM and Chrysler to the taxpayers. Its the Auto Stock for Every Taxpayer Act!!

Heritage

“Instead of the Treasury owning 60 percent of shares in the new GM and 8 percent of Chrysler, you would own them, if you were one of about 120 million individuals who paid taxes on April 15,” Alexander explained. “This is the fastest way to get the stock out of the hands of Washington and back into the hands of the American people in the marketplace where it belongs. The stock certificates would be in your name, not that of your government.”

TWO: He is giving out “Car Czar” Award’s! These awards are given to people “who distinguish themselves by making it harder for the auto companies your government owns to compete in the world market place”.

In a speech on the Senate floor he gave the first award to Barney Frank.  Check out  the video to see the speech.
